Discover the Round Brush of Your Dreams

Have you been searching for your hairstyling soul mate? If so, you may want to consider the unique charms that a round brush has to offer. If you’ve ever dreamed of flaunting a gorgeous blowout with graceful, soft waves, then a quality round brush may just be your match. But how do you pick the one that’s right for you? Just follow this simple guide and you’ll be on your way to looking your very best in no time.

      Hair length and barrel size

There’s a simple rule of thumb to follow in selecting the right brush: choose a barrel size that generally matches the length of your hair. Ladies sporting short hair will want to choose a small barrel round brush that can easily grip and smooth their shorter strands. Our Azzurro Natural Bristle Round Brush, available in three sizes, is perfect for the job. Bonus tip: small round brushes can sometimes be used to style bangs as well. If you’re thinking about rocking Kerry Washington’s gorgeous new fringe, a quality round brush will help you achieve the look!

If you have medium hair, not surprisingly, a medium round brush will be your best bet. A medium round brush is perfect for working soft, lush curls into the bobs and lobs, or long bobs, that are so popular right now. Our Ariel Blue Italian Hairbrush, available in a variety of sizes, is a nice pick for this hair length. And if you have long hair, of course you will want to select a brush with a large barrel. Our Ceramic Ion Hairbrush, now with an extra long barrel, is ideal for quickly creating curls and waves in longer hair, from beachy waves to the trendy shag look that recently took New York Fashion Week by storm.

      Hair type and bristle concentration

The bristles found in your round brush and how concentrated they are also play a role in styling your hair. Make sure to find a brush with the right amount of bristle concentration for your needs. In general, the more bristles there are, the more tension they create when styling your hair. Certain types of hair need more tension in order to be styled properly.

If you have curly or wavy hair, look for a round brush with a dense bristle concentration so that you can smooth, straighten and style your strands. Our Classic Reinforced Birchwood Brushes have double-concentrated bristles that provide maximum control and tension while also adding shine. Ladies with fine hair have less trouble straightening their hair, so they should pick a brush with less bristle density. Our Rosewood Round Brushes with pure boar bristles offer the gentle touch and soft care required for fine hair.

A round brush for every styling need

At the end of the day, there’s still a bit of an art to selecting the right round brush for your needs. It’s a personal choice, and it depends on the look you want to create. If you regularly blow out your hair, for example, you’ll likely be looking for a vented round brush that allows for optimal heat styling. Other looks may call for a different tool. If you plan to use your new round brush on a daily basis, make sure it has a handle with a comfortable grip. After all, you want a hair brush that not only looks good and styles your hair well but also is a pleasure to use!

4 Ways to Prep Your Hair for Fall

4 Ways to Prep Your Hair for Fall

Can you believe that fall is almost here? It’s been a wonderful summer here in New York. We didn’t slow down at Creative Professional – we added a detangling and styling brush, an extended barrel ceramic ion hair brush, and a special silver toddler’s hair brush with soft natural bristles to our product line. If you haven’t checked them out yet, take a look!

Cool autumn days are not far away. If you soaked up plenty of sunlight and time outdoors this season, you’ll want to make sure that your hair is in good health as the days get shorter and the temperature cools. Summer is fun, but time spent in the pool or even extended exposure to the sun can leave your hair and scalp in need of a little tender loving care. Here are four ways you can restore your hair health as fall approaches.

      1. Hydrate Your Hair

Long days spent outdoors at the beach or in the sun can dry out your hair and singe your scalp. If your hair is feeling a bit brittle and in need of replenishment, make sure to condition it gently with a restorative mask or a leave-in conditioner. For extra deep conditioning, consider trying a French argan oil treatment or a deep penetrating hair treatment that will restore your hair to full vibrancy while protecting it from the effects of heat styling.

      2. Practice Smart Heat Styling

Now that cooler days are on the way, you may want to break out the blow dryer or the flat iron to create a lovely fall look. Always take care, however, never to overdo it in the heat styling department. Pair your blowout routine with a gentle leave-in conditioner that will protect your strands from exposure to the heat.

If you plan to use your flat iron, make sure to use a thermal protectant spray. It can protect your hair from damage while ensuring snag-free passage through the flat iron or curling iron. If you need a break from the hot tools, hair plopping is a popular technique for creating beautiful, bouncy curls without heat styling. You can also try a no-heat hairstyle that will give your tresses a rest while lending you a lovely new look.

      3. Embrace a New Look

Consider switching up your look. It’ll leave you feeling refreshed and optimistic as the season gets started! Lobs and bobs reign supreme right now, but pixies and feminine shag cuts are also popular. Looking to make a bold statement? You may want to consider changing your hair color. Bronde, burnt auburn and pastel hair colors are all hot hues at the moment.

      4. Update Your Hair Tools

Just as spring cleaning affords us a clear out the clutter, a change in the seasons is always a great opportunity to take stock of your hair tools. What kinds of hair brushes and hair tools do you have in your arsenal? Do they need a refresher? If you’re not sure what type of brush is best for you, check out our Complete Guide to Hair Brushes. It’s a great primer on the top types of brushes out there and what each kind is used for, from paddle brushes to round brushes and vented brushes as well.
